Floating and Sinking experiment

In science we did an experiment to see what sorts of things float and what sorts of thing sink. We discussed the different materials things were made of and what were the properties of each object that impacted whether it floated or sunk. Have a look at some of the objects we tested!

  2. That looks really interesting! Great you can learn in a "hands on" way and do your own discovering.

  3. Cool unit. Have you tried a computer mouse? You'd have to be careful though, because water conducts electricity.

  4. Who knew a sponge would float even when it was soaked up with water? Quite an interactive way of learning about these topics.

  9. I'm slightly surprised that a flower would float. Only because I thought that it would be like paper.. Get soaked and slowly gain weight from the water. Maybe after time though.

  15. Most sunk but a few floated. I was surprised that the flower would float: I thought that would exurb the water like paper and disintegrate into small pieces and then sink.

  16. Most sunk but a few floated. I was surprised that the flower would float: I thought that would exurb the water like paper and disintegrate into small pieces and then sink because of the weight it picked up.
